Background and Areas of Practice

David has practiced at the Bar from Elliott Johnston Chambers since early in 2014.

After 25 years with Andersons Solicitors David took the step of pursuing a long held interest in practicing as a barrister.

As a senior partner with Andersons leading a team of highly qualified civil litigation lawyers, David accumulated very significant experience in a range of complex matters from major medical negligence claims (brain injury and spinal injury) through to more straightforward workers compensation or motor vehicle accident matters.

During this time, he came to be highly regarded in his areas of practice and can claim to be one of the leading civil litigation practitioners in South Australia.

David has experience and expertise in many areas of the law and his areas of greatest interest include:

  • Medical Negligence Claims

  • Workers Compensation Claims including Comcare and WorkCover Claims

  • Motor Vehicle Injury Claims

  • Personal Injury Claims

  • Catastrophic Injury matters

  • Industrial disputes and Employment Law

  • Unfair Dismissal Claims

  • Criminal law

  • Class Actions

  • Professional Negligence Claims

  • Commercial Disputes

  • Civil disputes

  • Commissions and other Inquiries

  • Coronial Inquests

The practice of law and achievement of justice are convictions that strongly motivate David and it is this way of thinking that had driven him to spend considerable energy representing not for profit associations, especially those assisting people with disabilities.

He was a Board Member of Paraquad SA (now PQSA) for nearly twenty years and was President for some twelve years.

His work has also provided considerable legal and other support to other non-profit disability organisations such as the Brain Injury Network of SA (now Brain Injury SA).

David will take on Legal Services funded briefs and is able to represent clients in regional areas or interstate.
